While the Building on Excellence campaign has ended, we still greatly appreciate gifts for our new home. Full information on making a gift is below. If you’re familiar with the information and want to mail in a pledge, you can complete a pledge form here and follow the directions on the form. Please note, gifts over $1,000 made after the end of the campaign will not be included on the Donor Wall. The Pledge Form states otherwise.
Online: There are several ways to make your gift online: To make a one-time gift you may either visit this page on the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation website and follow the directions below or visit the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority website, click on “Foundation” then “Make a Gift” and follow the directions below.
The undergraduate members have made two commitments to start the Building On Excellence campaign. First, they pledged $30,000 to the Building Fund as the first step towards naming a study room in memory of Lisa Ly, one of their sisters who unexpectedly passed away during the 2016-2017 school year. Additionally, the chapter has voluntarily voted a per member increase in their building fee, which will result in an additional contribution of more than $696,000 over the course of the campaign.
If you are as inspired as we are by the commitment and generosity of the undergraduate chapter, we invite you to join them and alumnae across the country in supporting this project with your gift today.
To ensure that gifts are tax-deductible, we have partnered with the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, a 501(c)3 public charity exclusively committed to educational and charitable programs that assist the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi. All gifts to this effort directed to the Foundation and designated by the donor for the Gamma Iota Educational Housing Fund will provide support to the House Corporation for the benefit of Gamma Iota Chapter. This partnership provides us with the professional infrastructure needed to sustain a 5-year timeline of activity. The Alpha Delta Pi Foundation will provide professional stewardship for our project, including the timely acknowledgement of gifts made, tracking and sending reminders as needed for multi-year pledges, and the ability to accept gifts of appreciated securities (saving the donor capital gains tax) or other types of tangible property.
Gifts may be spread out over a period of up to five (5) years, and the opportunity to name a room or portion of the house, either in your own name or in honor/memory of another, is available through leadership gifts. All alumnae, parents and friends who contributed $1000 or more prior to the end of the campaign had their name included on a plaque in the new Chapter home. For individuals or families who are interested in recognizing alumna who have passed, we offer the possibility of making a Memorial gift in her honor. If your employer - or your spouse’s employer - matches gifts made to charities, the company match will count towards naming rights. Memorial gifts of $1000 or more will also be listed on a Memorial Wall in the Chapter house.
Thanks to this partnership with the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, there are many options available that can help make your gift as meaningful and tax-efficient as possible:
Gifts of Securities
With the stock market run-up over the last few years, one of the best methods for charitable giving involves contribution of appreciated stocks and bonds. You can avoid capital gains taxes on appreciated securities you donate and you can deduct the full fair market value of the gift from your taxes in the year you make the gift. They can be transferred electronically from your brokerage account or they can be sent through the mail in certificate form. To make transfer arrangements, please contact the Foundation at (404) 378-3164 or by email at foundation@alphadeltapi.com.
One-Time or Recurring Gifts
Alumnae may contribute either a one-time or recurring gift by credit card or automatic bank draft in one of two ways:
Mail: Complete a pledge form and mail it to:
Alpha Delta Pi Foundation Gamma Iota Educational Housing Fund 1386 Ponce de Leon Avenue, NE Atlanta, GA 30306

To make a one-time gift you may either:
Visit this page on the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation website and follow #3 through #7 below.
Or visit the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority website, click on “Foundation” then “Make a Gift” and select “Online,” then the “gift online” link, click on “Educational Housing Funds,” then click on “donate” and follow #3 through #7 below.
For either, enter the amount you’d like to give (please use only numbers in the amount of your contribution when entering it on the Foundation’s contribution form; for technical reasons the use of a comma or other items will cause the contribution to be rejected).
In the “Please designate my gifts to support”” box, select Gamma Iota Educational Housing Fund.
If you are making a gift in honor of your pledge/Alpha class or an alumnae; or in memory of a sister, please select the tribute type in section 3: Honor/Memorial Information; add the specifics in section 4: Notes about my gift.
If you are making a gift to support a regional naming effort, please add that information in section 4: Notes about my gift.
Complete the remaining information, then click on “donate” to complete your gift.
To make a pledge to be paid over time, you may:
Follow #1 - #3 above.
Immediately below the amount, there is a checkbox to set up a pledge (up to 5 years) with recurring gifts. You can select Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annually, or Annually and the number of years.
Follow #4 - #7 above.
Note: The Foundation has advised us that, as a security measure against fraudulent charges, it is possible that gifts in excess of $5,000 made online may not be accepted by the payment processor. Should this happen to you, simply contact the Foundation directly at (404) 378-3164, or by email at foundation@alphadeltapi.com, and they can assist.
Gifts By Check
Designate your gift to our account by including Gamma Iota Educational Housing Fund in the memo field of your check made payable and mailed to:
Alpha Delta Pi Foundation Gamma Iota Educational Housing Fund 1386 Ponce de Leon Avenue, NE Atlanta, GA 30306
Gifts from Donor Advised Funds
If you would like to make your gift with a Donor Advised Fund or charitable giving account, please contact the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation at 404.378.3164 or foundation@alphadeltapi.com. You can direct your support to provide a naming gift opportunity for Gamma Iota’s Building on Excellence Campaign.
Gifts From Your IRA
Individuals aged 70½ or older can make gifts up to $100,000 per year using funds transferred directly to the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation from their IRA without paying taxes on the distributions. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you will benefit even if you do not itemize your tax deductions. In addition, your IRA gift can count toward your minimum required distribution in the year the gift is made, as long as you have not received your distribution for the same year.
Tangible Property
These types of gifts include land, artwork, coin or stamp collections, or other personal property. The donor should arrange and pay for a third party, independent and qualified appraisal of the tangible property. As with a gift of securities, gifts of tangible property enable the benefactor to avoid a capital gains tax and claim the fair market value on the property, as opposed to the cost basis.
Estate Gifts
Though the campaign is focused on current, cash gifts, estate gifts will be accepted and included in our campaign totals. Estate gifts may not, however, be used to name a portion of the Chapter house until the gift is actually received from the donor’s estate
A Final Word
Please keep in mind that you may apportion your gift in any way you like, to support a city/regional effort, a pledge/Alpha class effort or a naming opportunity. Feel free to allocate your campaign contribution in any percentage you like to each.
