About House Corporation
Our Chapter houses have been a centerpiece of sorority life since 1955 and have been maintained with care and appreciation for over sixty-eight years. The Gamma Iota House Corporation is a board of alumnae and sisters who make decisions about the management of the Chapter house. It is often referred to as House Corp.
All sisters contribute funds as a member of Gamma Iota to help with the upkeep of the Chapter house. New members pay a one-time fee which entitles them to lifetime membership in the House Corporation.
The House Corp board coordinates the management of the Chapter house including employment of staff, long-term finances, maintenance and upkeep, and more (such as the decision to build our new home). The House Corporation board meets quarterly. All sisters and alumnae are encouraged to attend the Annual Meeting. Directors (board members) may also be elected by the House Corp to serve in an executive position following the Annual Meeting.
The team of House Corp directors, our House Director Jere Herrington, and many third-party vendors help us succeed in making our house a home and one of the most beautiful at UF.
We benefit from the guidance of our sisters and alumnae to ensure that we best serve Gamma Iota. Several committees support House Corp initiatives, providing opportunities for alumnae to serve. Volunteering with the Gamma Iota House Corporation is a rewarding experience and opportunity to “give back.” The time commitment can be adjusted to the alumna’s availability.
